Joy Springer
Mental Health Counseling Intern
Joy is under the clinical supervision of Akua Twum, LMHC
Joy in her own words: “I am a counselor-in-training currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. I take a holistic and integrative approach to counseling and believe that healing happens through self-awareness, emotional safety, meaning-making, and intentional action within a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship.
You are not alone in your experience. I understand how deeply trauma, stress, and life transitions can shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world. I believe having a safe space to be vulnerable, explore ingrained patterns, process difficult emotions, and build healthier ways of being can be both grounding and transformative.
My goal is to create a nonjudgmental, reflective space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. Together, we can explore how past experiences, relationships, and learned ways of coping may be influencing your present-day thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while also identifying paths toward a life that feels more meaningful, aligned, and fulfilling. Therapy with me is not just about talking; it is a process of self-discovery, understanding, and intentional growth.
I bring a culturally responsive and strengths-based perspective to my work, recognizing the important role that culture, identity, and lived experience play in both challenges and resilience. I am committed to honoring your unique story and meeting you with curiosity, compassion, and respect. If you are ready to take the next step toward healing, I would be honored to support you in building a life that feels fulfilling, grounding, and authentic.”
