Alessandra Rincón

Mental Health Counseling Intern

Alessandra is under the clinical supervision of Darin Roy, LMHC, and Timothy Crumley, LMHC.

Alessandra Rincón (she/her) is a counselor-in-training completing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Syracuse University. Before entering the counseling field, she worked as a journalist, where she spent years listening to people’s stories, asking questions, and trying to understand the experiences that shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. That experience continues to shape the way she approaches counseling.

Alessandra grounds her approach in person-centered care and the belief that each person is the expert on their own life. She strives to create a warm, curious, and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel heard and sees therapy as a collaborative process, offering support and perspective while allowing clients to determine what is meaningful to them. She believes our experiences can help us understand where we have been without determining where we go next. In therapy, she hopes to help clients explore their stories with curiosity, recognize their strengths, and consider what they may want to carry forward, change, or leave behind.

Alessandra is interested in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including narrative therapy, Gestalt therapy, and holistic care. She will recognize your complexity and will remain flexible, curious, and consider the whole person and their relationships, identities, environments, and experiences that contribute to their well-being.

She is particularly interested in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, immigrants and immigrant families, and individuals navigating mood disorders and eating disorders. She is also interested in supporting clients through life transitions, questions of identity and self-understanding, relationships, and the uncertainty that can come with figuring out what comes next.

Alessandra hopes to work alongside clients as they make sense of their experiences, develop a deeper understanding of themselves, and explore what a meaningful and authentic life looks like for them.
