Kelly Benjamin, LMHC

Kelly is a thoroughly experienced Mental Health Counselor based in Albany, NY, with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. His career began with a specialization in substance use disorders, and he worked as a full-time therapist at an intensive residential substance use treatment program in Albany NY. Kelly was also employed as a Behavioral Health Counselor at St. Peter's Health Partners for 10 years. Kelly's extensive experience in substance use disorders has allowed him to develop a unique insight into the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by addiction.

Kelly's theoretical orientation is centered around Acceptance Commitment Therapy, a treatment approach that emphasizes mindfulness, values, and committed action. He combines this approach with cognitive behavioral techniques to help his clients reexamine their unhealthy belief systems. Kelly believes in a collaborative process, guiding his clients to increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, decrease symptoms, and increase personal strengths to have a more meaningful life experience. Additionally, Kelly uses Person-Center Therapy to promote empowerment while helping individuals increase self-awareness and self-reliance. Kelly has a strong belief in the potential of all individuals to fulfill their true potential and live a life of peace and prosperity.
