Janay Campbell, LMHC

Janay is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is originally from Queens, New York, but has been living in Albany, New York for the past 5 years. Janay has experience working with adolescents and adults of diverse populations who struggle with addiction, depression, anxiety and complex trauma. Janay’s focus is supporting disadvantaged populations through individualistic and client-centered approaches by using cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused orientations. Janay uses her cultural background of growing up with immigrant parents in America to support her clients. She believes in taking the whole person into account in therapy and exploring multiple options for support and services.

With clients, Janay focuses on how to improve interpersonal relationships, emotional regulation, increasing coping skills, and overall personal growth. Janay’s philosophy on therapy is that if you put in the hard work with the right support, the results will be rewarding and significant. She also uses humor and positive reinforcement to help clients reach their identified goals.

In her downtime, Janay loves to watch reruns of her favorite television shows- The Office, Girlfriends and RuPaul’s Drag Race, reading different romance and mystery novels, and spending time with family and friends. Her pride and joy is her brother’s dog - Summer- who she puppy-sits on occasion. She also enjoys traveling with friends and hopes to make more trips to the Caribbean, Central and South America.
