About Us
Informed Consent and No Surprises
About Us:
Establishing yourself, and your identity, is a lifelong process. You are not alone when you face questions including: Who am I? What is my purpose? Who do I want in my life? What do I stand for? Why am I here? When we consider these questions, along with countless others branching from these, you might find yourself overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or frustrated. Attempting to navigate this process, you may face societal expectations, dysfunctional family dynamics, economic challenges or other stressors operating against you. While the desire to be stable, authentic, and true to self is shared, your story will always be unique.
Disconnection from our true selves may lead to issues communicating with loved ones, career dissatisfaction, decreased sense of self-worth, substance use, or playing a role in this world you never asked for. As mental health providers, our job is to walk beside you as you journey toward living authentically.
We want to hear your story as you experience it, and support you in taking on aspects of your life that are not working for you. Providing a safe, confidential space to explore beliefs and barriers while aligning with your strengths is our expertise. Ultimately, you are the expert in your life story, and it is our job to support you in reworking your script.
Our Mission Statement:
CommonSense Wellness Network providers offer private counseling, support, and other mental health resources to New York residents that are affirmative, client-centered, and accessible through secure, digital means. Our providers offer counseling to individuals and families facing barriers, internal and external, through our use of HIPAA-secure software and online technology. Our providers seek to modernize and improve therapeutic technique and your experience as the client by offering local, online counseling services. All of this is in addition to face-to-face services select providers may offer.
Our Vision:
We believe counseling and other healthcare services in general underutilized online communication and technology in the 21st century. While some generic, big-name brands dominate the online counseling scene, we envision a world where smaller, more dynamic and personable practices are available to clients facing a diverse set of challenges. This includes training, supervising, and engaging young counselors who may be currently excluded from established online counseling platforms. Counselors entering the field today are not ready to provide services through an online platform, and we are looking to change that.
Our providers offer affordable, accessible services to clients who may not otherwise engage in face to face therapy, as well as they serve as an adjunct and addition to traditional, brick and mortar counseling. This includes using digital means to reach disenfranchised communities including (but not limited to) the LGBTQ community, Black and brown folk, rural communities, clients navigating substance use issues, young people, seniors, individuals and families coping with mood and other disorders, as well as clients facing external stressors, expectations, and dysfunctional societal norms.
